The 1600 series of business telephones is a low cost family of quality desk phones from leading manufacturer Avaya designed to meet the basic communication needs of all types of businesses.
The 1608 IP Desk Phone supports eight line appearances/feature keys with dual LEDs and includes several fixed feature keys for common tasks, including conference, transfer, drop, hold and mute.
Here is a guide to using the Contacts Directory on the 1608 IP Desk Phone to help you manage your database of contacts and make calls efficiently.
Viewing Contacts / Directory
1. To access the contacts directory press the CONTACTS key and the directory menu will be displayed.
2. Select which directory to view by scrolling with the left and right arrow keys. Choose from:
- All: All directory entries.
- External: Directory entries stored by the telephone system for all users to use.
- Groups: The names and numbers of hunt groups on the telephone system.
- Users: The names and numbers of other users on the telephone system.
- Personal: Your own personal contacts.
3. To display the directory listings, press the LIST soft key or start typing the name of your required contact.
4. To scroll through the entries, use the up and down arrow keys.
5. To display the contact name and number, press DETAILS.
6. To scroll between name and number, use the up and down arrow keys.
Making a Call from the Directory
1. To access the contacts directory press the CONTACTS key and the directory menu will be displayed.
2. Select which directory to view by scrolling with the left and right arrow keys. Choose from:
- All: All directory entries.
- External: Directory entries stored by the telephone system for all users to use.
- Groups: The names and numbers of hunt groups on the telephone system.
- Users: The names and numbers of other users on the telephone system.
- Personal: Your own personal contacts.
3. To display the directory listings, press the LIST soft key or start typing the name of your required contact.
4. To scroll through the entries, use the up and down arrow keys.
5. When your required contact has been identified, press CALL.
Adding a Contact
Up to 100 personal contacts can be added to your directory…
1. Access your directory by pressing the CONTACTS key and then use the left and right arrows to select your PERSONAL DIRECTORY.
2. Press the NEW soft key to start a new entry.
3. Use the up and down arrow keys to scroll between name and number.
4. Type the name and press the OK soft key.
5. Type the number and press the SAVE soft key.
6. To exit without saving, press the CANCEL soft key.
Editing a Contact
1. Access your directory by pressing the CONTACTS key and then use the left and right arrows to select your PERSONAL DIRECTORY.
2. Press the LIST soft key to view your contacts list or start typing the name of your required contact.
3. Use the up and down arrow keys to scroll through the list.
4. Having located your required entry, press DETAILS to view the name and number.
5. To begin editing, press the MORE soft key followed by the EDIT soft key.
6. Use the up and down arrow keys to scroll between name and number.
7. When the name has been adjusted as required, press the OK soft key.
8. When the number has been adjusted as required, press the SAVE soft key.
9. To exit without saving any changes, press the CANCEL soft key.
Deleting a Contact
Only contacts from your personal directory can be deleted as follows …
1. Access your directory by pressing the CONTACTS key and then use the left and right arrows to select your PERSONAL DIRECTORY.
2. Press the LIST soft key to view your contacts list or start typing the name of your required contact.
3. Use the up and down arrow keys to scroll through the list.
4. Having located your required entry, press DETAILS to view the name and number.
5. To begin editing, press the MORE soft key followed by the DELETE soft key.
